Inspiration

One of the first things I noticed here at Kraya was how passionate the people were.  I don’t just mean about their work but also all aspects of their lives.

Staff here tend to live and breathe Kraya, enjoying their jobs so much that they wouldn’t think twice of working over the hours.  Something that I have never witnessed in previous jobs.

It also surprised me that they all found the time to excel outwith work too.  Many people are involved in sport teams and other creative activities.

I was beginning to get motivation from coming to work, maybe it was in the air.

Being in the same room as the ever optimistic Stephen Fitzpatrick may have helped too, if he could make sales sound interesting to me then who knows what’s possible!

Since joining Kraya I’ve not only added to my admin and finance skills, I have joined the gym and am a regular there once/twice a week (better than nothing!)  I also have my first driving lesson next saturday.

Although these might not seem big things to other people I can notice a difference in myself motivation wise.

What’s next do you think, joining my friend at Muay Thai?  Getting myself a real hobby?  Answers on a postcard please.

Kraya helping Edinburgh’s aspiring talent

Not too long ago Shri asked Rehan (Tinkerbell & music guru) and I to meet him to discuss an idea that he had. The idea was to run a competition for local artists and the likes and the winner would receive a free website. Our team of highly experienced web designers and developers would make this possible for the lucky winner and the prize would be to the value of £15,000. Not too shady I’m sure you will agree!

Shri has always been interested in local home grown culture and with Kraya doing so well and continuing to do so he felt it was time to give something back to the community, give a helping hand to artists starting out.

Our first area was to be bands. After some advice from Rehan our shortlist consisted of – The Void, The Futuristic Retro Champions and The Banjo Lounge Trio.

Lucky us met with each of the bands to discuss what Kraya wanted to do for them by running this competition, for them to talk with us about what they wanted to do, their hopes and dreams for their band. It was a good way to establish a relationship with the candidates, to get to know them and to see if we could offer them any help to achieve their goals. Obviously providing a website is one out of many things we can offer like advice, music videos and there’s always someone we know who can provide something we can’t. It’s all about who you know ;)

So the lucky winners in the end were The Futuristic Retro Champions. Who have been described in the past as art college electro-popstrels . :D

FRC will be working closely with Kraya to develop their shiney new website. Watch this space……

Future areas we will be covering will be venues that support local talent, DJ’s, club nights, artists and more. So if you know anyone involved in any these fields give me a shout!
